How to Embed Youtube Videos on Blogiversity

If you want to really spice up your posts, you can now embed videos from YouTube. It will take a bit of copy/pasting to get the code right, but it looks a lot more intimidating than it really is. We basically want to take the code to place a YouTube clip into Blogiversity and splice in the code for the location of the clip on YouTube.

The first thing you need to do is find your video on YouTube. Once you are on the video page, look for the embed coding. To the right of the video, just below the author information, you will find a small box labeled "embed:".

Highlight and drag all the way across to get all the code selected. If it doesn't drag across all the code, try reloading the page. Then copy/paste that whole code string into your post. It should look something like this:

    <object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/kQVASfVfqo4&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/kQVASfVfqo4&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Now you will need to cut out the code we need. Find the portion highlighted in blue in the above example. We want everything between the (http://www.youtube.com/) and the ("). Cut that portion out and discard the rest.

Now take the embed YouTube code [YouTube: ] and add the snippet so it looks something like this: [YouTube:v/kQVASfVfq04&hl=en&fs=1]

If all goes well, it should look something like this:
