Phonebooth an Alternative and Google Voice Contender

For all you anti-google people out there that feel the sting of not being able to take advantage of some of Google's applications like Google Voice checkout Phonebooth. They have some of the same features and each of them have a leg up on the other.

Phonebooth is much like google voice in that you get a free phone number that you can forwarded to all your phones. You can route calls to different phones using groups and have your voicemail transcribed and sent to your email.

The main differences between the two services is that Phonebooth has a digital attendant that makes a  menu for people to press one to call this person or 2 to call that person. With Phonebooths free membership you only get 200 free minutes for incoming calls. The free and paid membership will not let you place outgoing calls with your phonebooth number at all. This I feel is their biggest weakness  in that you can't place outgoing calls and you only have 200 minutes on incoming calls. Google Voice has unlimited local calling and outgoing calls all for free.

I think the service has gotten a great start and I think they are going to do very well. They are more geared toward businesses that need a call menu to route calls than for personal use. This is why I think they are going to do very well. They perhaps will see less individuals using their service because of the lack of outgoing and free calling.
