The Room

My daughters have had quite a time with keeping their room clean. Yes, I know that children are just messy, but we are talking about a major mess that will linger for weeks, maybe even months if we don’t intervene.

I am talking about the typical morning being:

-Finding a shirt and jacket that goes to a three piece outfit, but not the matching pants. Where are the pants? Who knows, but they are definitely in the house. They could be under the bed, wrapped in the comforter on the bed, under the bathroom cabinet (why, who knows!) or several others places. So we move on, but now…

-Finding a clean pair of socks seems to be the #1 problem in a family household. I don’t care how many socks you buy, wash, fold and put away, there are never enough clean socks to wear. So after you have screamed and yelled about the fact that this is day #365 that there are no clean socks, you find that…

-After getting up an hour and a half early, looking for clothes that match and socks, and having a whirlwind breakfast, mommy decides it is “safe” to go get ready for work while the kids brush their teeth and wash their face, right? Wrong! While mommy gets ready for work, they have time to stand around and waste time. Then, when you finally get into the car, no one has brushed their teeth or washed their face. What a sight! So you go back into the house for round two…

-“Hurry up and brush your teeth and wash your face so we won’t be late!” This takes 10 minutes and then we can leave, leave late, but leave.

This leads into my next blog on how we are dealing with this problem. Stay tuned…
