The Latest Push
Saturday, January 19, 2013 10:33 AM
I just scanned through my last real post to this blog and can't belief that so much time has past. The girls were six weeks old and I was trying to keep the book going by writing during my planning period. It was a good idea, worth a try at least. At least I was trying to intend to do something. Of course, that didn't work. I heard of a writer once who... Read More...

I am a father to six week old twins. Rosemary Luna and Juliette Aurora are gorgeous beyond belief, but as you can imagine, I have not done much writing since my last post. When I last posted, I was hoping to knock out another four chapters before the end of the summer, but my wife gave birth only 6 days after that. I'm now halfway through the next chapter... New Year, New Plan
Saturday, January 7, 2012 10:55 AM
Alright, so the plan isn't that new. It's different from last year's but it's the same overall plan. 2012 is poised to be a year of unparalleled change in my life, leaving me helplessly busy and most likely suffering from unrelenting fatigue and exhaustion. My full time job as a tenth grade teacher continues to consume most of my time and leave... Read More...

It's only noon and it's already been a day. I found out that the third try is not the charm with the kudzu review. I didn't submit as a freshmen but now as a senior I have failed completely to get into the Kudzu Review, FSU's undergraduate lit mag. Moving on. With school finished, it's been a hell of a semester, but now that it is nearly over... Read More...

First of all I'd like to thank everyone for reading and leaving comments. My previous entry was my fifteenth which is the minimum number of blogs you must post (all over 250 words) to meet the blogiversity contest rules. I will of course continue to post until time is up to try to get as high a score as possible and make sure I get into finals. The contest... Read More...
Advice From Professionals and Professors: Part II: Writing and Editing
Friday, January 23, 2009 4:09 PM
I've often talked about how I try to write on a schedule. Something I've heard over and over again from professional writers is that you have to write everyday and it helps to write on a schedule. Everyone has to individually figure out when and where they work best. A former graduate student here at FSU told me once, and he had been published several... Read More...
On the Writing Side
Saturday, January 17, 2009 1:10 AM
As an update on how my personal writing is going I've found success yet again with my technique of going to the library and writing there. I hadn't been feeling motivated to write at all since my return to college after winter break, although that is in part because I was settling into the new semester schedule, but also probably because I just hadn't... Getting Started (Again)
Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:22 PM
Step one of this process (or this leg of the process at least) is going to be setting up some sort of writing schedule. It’s important to write everyday, that seems to be a universally recognized fact. If you are going to be a professional writer, you have to write everyday. The 19th century author Jack London was famous for making himself write at least 1,000... Read More...
