  • I wish everybody would just wag more, bark less

I was out sick for a couple of days this week, and our office bulldog, Rocco, greeted me with full-body wag when I came back to work. I was pickled tink. So I was able to wag for him when he came back to work today after being out sick yesterday. Yep. I wagged. It wasn't pretty, but it got the job...

  • Puppies Behind Bars

Has your child ever asked you for a puppy? They are so cute and cuddly that we all can understand why a child would want one. Having a dog can bring so much fun and joy into our lives but they also require a lot of time and patience amongst other things. Kids usually do not think about or may not understand...

  • Balancing Act

As most of you know, we have three dogs and two cats at the present time. They all eat every day; in fact, eating might be their most pleasant activity (next to being cuddled). We necessarily have to purchase large amounts of cat and dog food to keep everybody happy. My husband likes to purchase in large...

  • A Very Nice Anniversary

My wedding anniversary fell on a Thursday this week. I took the day off from work. I like taking a day off in the middle of the week. It makes the week feel like it has two Fridays, and for some reason, it does not feel like it has two Mondays. Most people, I imagine, would not think that the day I spent...

  • What about homeless people with pets?

They call us the Sunshine State, but when the sun came up this morning it was only 32 degrees out in Tallahassee. With an expected high of only 47, our cat got to spend the day indoors. I decided that today was the day I’d bring my space heater to work. I left home wearing layered sweaters and a down...

  • Lost Dog... In the Couch

My old neighbors had a pet chihuahua. One day they couldn't find their dog anywhere. They were really worried about their tiny dog and were afraid it had somehow gotten out of the house and might be eaten by some bigger animal... like a medium size cat or a bird or something. They asked all around...

  • The Fears of Pets

Are any of your pets afraid of strange things? I had a dog that was absolutely terrified of balloons. I'm not actually sure why a 140 lb chocolate lab would be so scared of a balloon, but he really was. Whenever he would see one he got really jumpy and ran away. So since he used to love stomping...

  • Re: Used Kleenex

That is nasty...and my dog does the same thing! Peaches will go from room to room, wastebasket to wastebasket searching for tissues or papertowels.

  • A Stray Dog

We have three wonderful dogs who are more like children to us than they are pets. We consider their health and comfort when we make decisions about buying a car, a couch, and even bedspreads. I'd like to talk about our newest arrival, Logan. I wasn't actually there for his arrival. I was headed...

  • Mind Meld

I'll try to paint the picture; you try to imagine it. It's early in the morning, and my husband is seated on an ottoman tying his shoes. Worn out before the day even begins, he drops his head into his hands...that's when he feels the tip of the dog's tongue tentatively licking the tip...
