Remember the little league world series scandal?

Do you remember the little league scandal where little Danny Almonte was like this untouchable pitcher in the little league world series and then they found out that he was really 14 and not 12. Which sounds crazy but its really not. They found out that the parents had forged a document back in his hometown of Moca saying that he was born in 1989 when really was born in 1987. After Sport Illustrated on their own started to do some research on the subject they found out that he was really 14 according to a document that they found.

The league then started their own investigation and found out that according to the official records at Moca he was actually 14. It was this huge deal because his team had already won the tournament. They already had a parade in New York and the keys to the city were given the whole deal. So the league of course had to strip them of the title and then it came out that Danny Almonte an his father were in the US illegally and that their visa had expired 6 months after they had come. Pretty sad story though I remember it being on the news and all back in 1991 I think. What are your thoughts.

Wow, that's pretty rough. It really puts a damper on someone so highly acclaimed and exalted when you find out they were lying and cheating the whole time. There is a lesson to be learned from it though. No matter how great your fame is, no matter how much approval you get, it just means you have further to fall. And if you get there dishonestly, you will fall eventually.

It's a real shame because he's obviously got a lot of talent. If he just played fair and was honest about everything, he could have a great career ahead of him.
