Yves Rossy recently tested his newest prototype of what is basically a jetpack with small wings attached.
This impressive little machine actually flies for a short distance using four tiny jet engines. The wings fold up to allow the pilot to easily fit the 7 foot wingspan into a small plane. He then essentially skydives until the wings are deployed. At this point the pilot can fly by moving his body to direct the glider. When it's out of fuel, a parachute is deployed and the pilot floats safely to the ground. Be sure to Watch The Video. It may not have too many practical uses but it looks like a LOT of fun.
