Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
Animals are truly a delight. I never let myself go into pet stores because I'm afraid I'll walk back out with half of the animals.

Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
I know the feeling. It seems like every time I go into a pet store there is some absolutely brilliant fish that's so much nicer than any others of its species I have seen and I just have to pick it up. I only get one or two fish at a time, but I have over 30 in my tank now. It's full of really beautiful fish because of this though.

Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
That was hilarious, and we still laugh every time we see one of those shells at a pet store. I think that little guy had a few marbles loose in his head. Maybe from knocking around so much in a plastic shell! He was so ridiculous!

I think your fish tank should be on display somewhere. It's really gotten so beautiful with all the "fisheeees!" you've combined.

Haha I didn't think about that. You're probably right though. I could tell he was a very jumpy animal to begin with, which isn't a good thing when you always keep a low ceiling over your head. They had another guinea pig at that store in a cage labeled "Large Rat". My brother and I were laughing uncontrollably when we saw him because he had such an indignant expression on his face. It was the proudest looking and biggest guinea pig I had ever seen, and they were calling him a rat. Talk about condescending.

Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
Maybe the "large rat" was becoming so indignant and difficult, they were forced to use a little public humiliation on the creature to get it to behave. (Or, more likely, to get him bought.) He looked like such a snob though! I don't think I'd want that little "rat" face sneering at me. Not to mention he never made the effort to even move. You'd think he'd try to get your attention. You know, "Hey! Look at me! Don't you want to take me home?! I'm so cute!!". Sheesh, who would want such a sourpuss? (Although I kind of feel bad saying that, loving all God's creatures and all...).

Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
Still, behavior plays a huge part in how lovable something is. Some cute and sweet little animals just cuddle up and say I love you, and you can't help but fall in love. This guy just said Pshhh get out of my sight. I've never seen such a snobby little animal before. I can just see a pet store employee looking at him, writing RAT in big letters, and saying, how do you like THAT!

Re: The Guinea Pig/Turtle
Haha, yeah, I guess you're right - the "rat" was pretty mean looking. He looked like he'd bite your nose off if you tried to touch him! So okay, I can be judicious with my love of all animals (okay, most animals) and limit it to ones who won't be maiming me anytime soon. I like my body parts just where they are, thank you very much, Mr. Nasty Rat! (It does make me wonder who got him, though....)

I don't know but if it were up to me, I think I would send him to a lab where they would test out hair products on him. It would be so fitting for such a pompous creature.
