While they aren't really pets, lots of people keep crickets to feed their pets. They can be very annoying at times, like when some of my brother's crickets got loose in our car and chirped from under the back seat for months. We had some crickets to feed the frog, but found them all dead the next day. We couldn't figure out what had killed them all so suddenly until we looked closer and realized they had exploded. We didn't have any cricket food so we fed them what seemed to be the best food for crickets... saltine crackers. We didn't even think about the fact that they are also called soda crackers because of their baking soda content. As far as we could tell, the crickets had filled up on crackers, then gone to take a drink. When the water hit the soda in the crackers, it expanded, and POW, dead crickets. Needless to say, don't feed crickets saltine crackers.
