My dad had a habit of periodically bringing home interesting animals he found out on his walks. One night he brought in a barking tree frog. It stood out because it was amazingly fat. Frogs tend to be fat but this one was HUGE. To make matters worse, some frogs will swallow air to puff up their bellies and appear bigger than they are. When he got scared or upset he turned into a little ball with eyes and legs.
Our dad put him in a big plastic bottle so we could all see him. But when he inflated, he wouldn't fit back out. We had to carefully cut the plastic to get him out. My brother decided to keep him as a pet because he was so unusual. It was fun to upset him when he was in his water because he would gulp down air and actually float around uncontrollably.
We put some other frogs in his cage to keep him company. They were a lot smaller than he was but we didn't think anything of it at the time. But we noticed they were slowly disappearing. We realized he was snacking on his friends. We took the rest out before he lost all his friends. It's just plain bad social etiquette.
We eventually set him free because it was just too hard to keep him fed. We would hear his telltale barking coming from a little clay bird feeder outside the window. Its resonance made him sound like he was in a tin can, but it projected his calls like he was performing in an amphitheatre.
Every man dies, but few truly live. Live your life to its fullest, every day as if it were your last.
