    Why I Love Swimming

Swimming is said to be one of the best forms of physical activity for your body. First of all it works out your entire body at once. It provides a very good workout for your legs, arms, back, and torso. It is not only a muscle building exercise but also a very good cardio workout. It also forces your breathing into a good rhythm, which helps your body to get the best of the workout. Swimming is a no impact workout, so you don't have much risk of impact related injury. When proper precautions are taken, it is actually one of the safest sports. You also run little risk of overheating because your body is constantly cooled by the water running past you. It also keeps you clean and refreshed as opposed to hot and sweaty. It also helps to maintain body posture and build muscular tone.

Just make sure to start slow and not push yourself the first few times you swim. When I first joined the swim team in High School, I thought I was going to die by the end of the first week. By the end of the season I was traveling to the State Championships with my freestyle relay team. I have been addicted to swimming ever since and I swim every chance I get.

yes, I agree swimming is a wonderful activity. I love it. To me it is a meditation as much as an activity. And to Jimdunn yes you can be fit and still drink, but true fitness is mind, body, and soul. So you must keep everything in moderation( including moderation ).

I used to always just generally feel better during swimming season too. Any kind of serious cardiovascular exercise will in effect make you a happier person. When you work out, your body naturally kicks out chemicals that cause you to generally feel better. You also help to cleanse your body by activating your lymphatic system with muscle activity. Swimming is especially good because it is so refreshing.
