Link made his debut on The Legend of Zelda for the original
Nintendo. He has been the star of many other Legend of Zelda titles
throughout Nintendo's lifetime. Now he joins us in Super Smash Brothers Brawl. Link is a heavyweight character who can
take a lot of damage. He's slow on his feet, but has pretty
quick-firing attacks. He is ideal for people who like to stand their
ground in battle. He can lure enemies in with his long range weaponry,
then strike them down with well timed blows from his powerful sword.

Standard Special Move: Hero's Bow

This
bow and arrow set can do some serious damage when used properly. It
fires quick shots that fly horizontally and do pretty good damage. You
can charge the bow to make it more powerful and fly further. These are
excellent for luring enemies to you from far away.
Side Special Move: Gale Boomerang

This
boomerang flies out and does light damage to an enemy. On its way back
to you, it will pull the foe slightly towards you and throw them off
balance. You can use this to pull them just within range of your sword
and deliver powerful well timed strikes.
Down Special Move: Bombs
These
bombs are very good for hitting enemies above, below, or to the sides
of you. They travel in an arc and act like thrown items. Use the down
special move to pull one out, then throw it like a normal item. Don't
hold onto it for too long or it will blow up in your hands. Be careful
when throwing them because a skilled enemy can catch a bomb in their
hands and throw it back at you. You can catch items by pressing A at
the second the bomb hits you. I love when an enemy Link throws bombs at
me because there's nothing more satisfying than to blow someone up with
their own bomb.
Up Special Move: Spin Attack

When
you press the up special attack, Link will charge his sword with magic
and spin quickly in a wide circle. This move does a lot of damage and
has some serious kick to it. Now you can charge up this attack to do
even more damage. If you use it on the ground, it will do a standard
spin and hit people on the sides of you. If you use it in the air, you
will fly upwards like a helicopter and gain some height. It is also
good for slashing enemies who are sitting on the edge waiting for you.
I like to use this technique to stop people from recovering. If you sit
on the edge and use it just when someone is jumping back on, it will
send them spinning down to their death.
Grab: Clawshot
This
is Link's standard grab. It will fire a grappling hook onto your enemy
and pull them in to you for a grab. You can grab enemies form a pretty
good distance, often while out of range of their attacks. Be careful
when using it, though. If they dodge it, you will be left wide open for
the couple of seconds it takes to retract the chain. You can also use
this for a grapple recovery. When you can't quite reach a ledge, use
your grab to latch the clawshot onto the side. You will hang from the
end of the chain and be able to jump back on. Just don't hang there too
long of you will fall off.
