Samus is a female bounty hunter who wields a high tech alien space suit that gives her extreme agility and firepower. Samus made her debut on Metroid for the original Nintendo. She has been exploring alien planets on subsequent games for nearly every Nintendo system since.
She was orphaned at a young age and adopted by the Chozo, an ancient and wise alien race. They trained her and entrusted her with their most prized technology, her armor. She used this gift and the training they gave her to become one of the most powerful bounty hunters in the galaxy. She discovered the Metroids on one of her missions and found her fate and the fate of the universe forever entwined with them.
Metroids are alien creatures that have a thirst for energy. After destroying their home world, Samus brought one specimen back for scientific study. Soon afterwards, the Metroid was stolen by the evil space pirates. They soon started mass producing the creatures and breeding them. In Metroid Prime, Samus learns that the Space Pirates are infusing them with Phazon to cause them to mutate and evolve. One of their prize test subjects, known as Metroid Prime, grows astronomically in intelligence and power. It manages to infuse itself with her other armor suit and becomes Dark Samus. Now she must face a creature with superior intelligence, amazing firepower, and the desire for total domination of the universe.
Samus made her debut on the first Smash Brothers where she was employed to exterminate more serious infestations of more menacing creatures such as Pikachu, Jigglypuff, and Yoshi.
