    Guide to Fox

Fox is probably my favorite character. His armor is about average and his attack power only slightly above average, but he makes up for all of his deficiencies with speed. He runs fast, attacks fast, and falls like a rock. His up-B move is extremely useful both as a recovery move and as an attack that can cut right through multiple enemies. His other B moves are also very useful. His B attack is a rapid-fire laser that produces no kick but is nonetheless good for racking up damage and irritating the other players. I'm also quite fond of his down B move; this produces a shield that can deflect projectiles and thrown items. He can be a little hard to control, but he is otherwise good for beginners because his physical attacks make a lot of sense; they all have about the same range, power, and execution speed relative to each other, and this makes it easy for him to intercept attacks from any direction.

On the whole, Fox is not good for getting bubble-blast KO's, but he is a master at star KO's. His two best KO attacks are his up-A smash and his up-A aerial attack; if you master both, you will be able to almost instantly dispatch any assailant whether in the air or on the ground. My strategy with fox is based primarily on conserving his momentum. From the ground, for example, I often sprint toward my foe, start charging my up-A smash attack, slide into my opponent and send them hurtling into the air the moment we collide. The resulting combination of speed and power is something that no other character can equal, and this technique makes him superior for flat levels, especially those with low ceilings.

It takes a lot to successfully beat Fox. Regardless which character you play, he can almost always out maneuver, out range, and overpower you if you let him. I would play him but I can't make the transition between the slow floating Peach and the fast dropping Fox. You can't blast him from from far away with projectiles because he will just reflect them back at you. If you run in close, he can pound you hard and fast with enough kick to finish you off. Your only real option is to fight him like a man and actually beat him skillfully. Probably his biggest vulnerability is when you get him to use his recovery move. He always flies a set distance so you can position yourself exactly out of reach of his fire and charge up a powerful smash to finish him off. He also hovers for a split second before flying, giving you a perfect chance to lob a projectile at him and send him backwards instead.

Fox is one of my least favorite people to fight. Samus is great for damaging people with her projectiles and finishing them off with a huge charged up burst of energy. But when they can bounce your projectiles right back and make them kill you, it really makes it hard to fight them. I'd say Fox is Samus's biggest weakness. I don't even bother trying to hit him with projectiles cuz I always end up regretting it. And when I get in close, he just beats me to death with his HUGE boots.

Yeah what's up with those HUGE feet of his. I think he has lead boots to make him do more damage when kicking people. He can do insane damage and kick with them if you use his kicks right. Running in and charging a smash while the momentum carries you will send the enemy for a swift death. The only downside is those lead boots make him fall REALLY fast and often die from it. So why does he have such huge feet? I would have thought it would put him at a disadvantage when he's using the pedals on his Arwings and Landmasters. But maybe it's the lead feet that keep him going at reckless speeds. Perhaps that's why he's such a good pilot. Because of his choice of footwear.

Though it's hard to get used to, I actually think Fox's fast falling rate is one of his greatest assets, mostly because it makes him hard to counter. For example, It allows him to charge at foes and, if they're anticipating a frontal attack, jump over their heads and kick them in the back, dealing an unexpected blow almost as fast as if he were doing a regular frontal running-A attack. His falling rate also protects him from Star KO's when he does aerial attacks because he doesn't stay in the air long enough to be intercepted. Thus, Fox's lead boots give him incredible ground-based speed and power AND make him the best ground character for aerial combat.

    Re: Guide to Fox

You know, the more I talk about Fox, the more he seems like he would be the perfect character for me. I just have to completely re-learn how to play. He's completely opposite to my former best character, Peach. I think that's why he always messed me up so much. I would make a light hop and expect to float around, but plummet to a quick death instead. Now I just have to figure out if I want Fox, Falco, or Wolf.

    Re: Guide to Fox

if your confused let me help you out:

Fox: Fast running, fast falling character. His strengths are all above in the previous posts. His blaster does about 1-2% each shot, no launch power.

Falco: A little slower than Fox, but can jump higher than anyone (except maybe yoshi, but 2 jumps+ recovery tops yoshis jumps), check the falco guide for more. His blaster does 1-3% with a little launch power.

Wolf: Just a smige slower than Falco. He can take more damage then Fox and Falco, and i think deals out a little more damage on a hit-to-hit basis. his side special goes at an angle, and his up special has a shorter range then the others, but when used offensively, it chains hits. His blaster does about 4-6%. When he uses his blaster next to someone, it hits em for 2-4% cuz of a knife on his gun.

*also, a note on the down special. Fox and wolf crouch and hold thier position, and falco throws his forward like a boomerang. All of thier reflectors shares a common thing: If it is used and an enemy is standing next to the user, the enemy will get launched a little bit. this is useful on the lower sides of a stage, because it knocks the enemy away, and a recovery move will save you, and you can still kill the other guy.

Hope this helps you decide :)

    Re: Guide to Fox

Thanks for the info. I have been trying to figure out the differences between those characters for a long time. I may need to jump down to Wolf because he's a bit more manageable on the controls. Fox tends to be a little TOO fast for me sometimes. I also love the kickback on his gun for pushing people off cliffs.
