They mearly add ease to exploring the wonderfull world of Warcraft. Some of the addons that might be necesay are Atlas/Atlas Loot, Cartographer, Auctioneer(one of the most valuble addons if not the most valuble!), Bagnon, QuestHelper and if you are into raids and instances Omen threat meter. The last one is a Class helper. Being a rogue I use Rogue focus, but there are many other ones for all classes. Atlas and AtlasLoot are ingame addons that display the loot tables for the dungeons and raids. Using this would indefinitly help knowing what items drop from which boss/mini-boss. Cartographer is another valuble addon that is an enhanced version of the ingame map displaying coordinates across the map. Most websites that display data on quest use coodinates to show the locations of key quest items. This brings us to quest helper, although it wont tell you what quest you should take it tells you the general area of the quest ie. kill 10 wither bark trolls. For those it shows the general area, but for quest needing specific items like tablets and scribings it shows the exact place and uses an arrow(placed where you choose n the screen) to guide you to your destination. For Auctioneer, well what can i say? It is almost a neccesity to making gold in WoW. Auctioneer saves prices while you look at items in the Auction House. Example While your looking at prices of Mithril Ore it saves the prices it sees and gives you a rough estimate of what price you should sell your stack for. I t has many features that would be invaluble to yuor success in WoW. Just check it out.

One Button Addon Updates!

Patch days are a mess. They are all different but they all have a similar process to do this.

First of all, download your desired addon. They almost always come in zip folders. After saving it, you need to extract it onto your desktop.

Once extracted, find the main folder of the addon. This will be the folder with the addon's name. Each addon comes packaged differently. If it has a lot of files but no folder with its name, make a new folder with the name of the addon, then put all the files into it. If it comes in a folder marked addons or interface, the folder you are looking for is probably inside these. Some addons come with multiple addon tools, each with its own folder. Keep these in their own folders with their own names.

Now you need to find the folder you will put them in. Click on "My Computer", then go to your hard drive (Usually marked C or D), then open the "Program Files" folder, and go to the "World of Warcraft" folder. Go into the "Interface" folder and open the "Addons" folder.

Make sure WoW is not running. Then copy the folder containing your addon and paste it into the "Addons" folder. Now start up WoW. On the character select screen, click the Addons button in the bottom left and make sure your new addon shows up there. If it does, make sure it is checked to be enabled. Enter the game and your addon should be working.

They have different menus and commands but most of them will show a little circle next to your minimap so you can use them. If you can't figure out how to use your addon, just go to the page you downloaded it from and read up on the instructions.

If your addon doesn't work, check to make sure the addon is in the right folder. Open up the folder your addon is in and make sure the files for it are right inside the folder. If there is another folder inside the folder with your addon's title, move the files into the main folder. You want WoW to find the files at World of Warcraft>Interface>Addons>(Your New Addon)>(The files of your new addon).

If you have any questions about any addon posted on these forums, feel free to reply to the post and its author may be able to answer your questions.

Introduction to WoW Addons

Addons are basically small programs that are added into your WoW game. They aren't any form of cheating or hacking, and Blizzard actually recommends some of the better ones, and sometimes even incorporates their features into the WoW game itself. They do small tasks to help you, such as remembering where you found herbs, sorting your bags, automatically equipping armor, and auto opening mail.

There are hundreds of different addons out there. My favorite site to pick them up is Curse Gaming. This site has a huge database of them, and sorts them by classes they are best for, professions that benefit from them, and categories of what they do. Be sure to read the notes on them to find out how to use them.

Not all addons are helpful. Some are just for fun and others are just plain annoying. Some don't even work, or have glitches that make gameplay very hard. Be sure to try out just a couple at a time so you don't get overwhelmed with the changes. If you don't like what an addon does, you can disable them at the character select screen. On the bottom left of the screen there is an Addons button. It will pull up a list of all your addons and allow you to check or uncheck them to disable them.

Check back with these forums to see the latest and greatest addons that people have found.

WoW Addons: Auctioneer

The true secret to making money on WoW is learning to use the auction house. It takes a lot of business sense to really make it big on the auction house. Thankfully for many of us, there is an addon that allows even those who know nothing about the economy to do well on the auction house. I highly recommend this addon for everyone who ever uses the auction house. If you don't use the auction house, you're missing out on a lot of money.

Auctioneer is a very complete set of tools for dealing with auctions. You really only notice it when you use the auction house, but it adds multiple tabs and buttons to your auction page. First of all it scans the auction house and keeps track of the prices on items. It will give you the average prices that an item sells for and compare those to the items you are buying or selling.

When you want to buy an item, just search it normally. Auctioneer will list them in order based on how much of a bargain they are, and put a % next to the price showing how much it is today compared to the average price. When it's blue at say 30%, it's a great deal and you could probably re sell it another day for a profit. If it's red at say 150%, it's a total ripoff and you can save a lot of money if you wait until the prices drop.

When you want to sell an item and don't want to think too much about it, you can just drop it into the auction house and it will auto suggest a price for it based on the competition and prices for the day. It will put the price barely below the lowest bidder so you're most likely to sell the item.

You can also save custom searches and set it to remember prices so you can put up multiple items of the same kind without having to re-enter the prices. This alone saves me lots of time.

You can Download Auctioneer Here.

WoW Addons: Gatherer

Ever wished you knew exactly where to find all the minerals, herbs, and treasure chests you need? Gatherer makes this possible.

It is one of my favorite addons for WoW. It barely even effects
your gameplay but makes gathering much easier. Each time you gather any
chest, mineral, or herb, it marks it on the map. These things will
respawn after a certain time period, so you can go back to check on
them when you're in the neighborhood. When you gather enough, you can
map out all the respawn points in the area. You can see these items on
your main map and they show up on your minimap as gray circles around
the spot where the item will show up on radar if it's there.

To make this even better, Gatherer allows you to share your
data with party members, guild members, or anyone else you choose to
send data to. In my old guild we all knew exactly where all the ore in
outlands would respawn, even if we had never set foot out there. This
really helps you to find your materials.

Even if you don't have
a gathering profession, you can still keep track of chests with it. You
can also mark herbs and ore for your friends by right clicking them.
When you see the red message saying you can't gather the item, it is
still marked and sent to friends who may find it useful. I highly
recommend everyone use this, even if you don't gather. You can set it
to not show anything so you won't even know it's there but it will
passively help your guild.

Download Gatherer

I have a pretty good map of the copper in early dwarf and draeni lands, and the tin in Loch Modan.
