It is reasonably common for a publication to write drafts of obituaries for famous people so they have a story ready in the event of their death. I can see where this could be a good thing... as long as it doesn't get published. The Bloomberg Financial Wire did just that this afternoon. They were editing the draft of the standby obituary and accidentally published an announcement of the death of the Apple CEO who is, in fact, not dead. The publication quickly withdrew the obituary.
