Most of the hard facts are very unclear in reports on blogger arrests, but studies show that at least three times more bloggers were arrested in 2007 than in previous years. Most of these arrests are done in oppressive governments where protests and political messages can be met with swift retribution. We can't get much real information on most of these incidents because these governments are good at covering up such arrests. What little data we have still shows a huge increase. Some countries are considering blocking sites like Facebook and Myspace because they represent places where their citizens can engage in free speech... until the police show up and end their fun.
