    Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

I have always been a big fan of the Metroid series. It's like Indiana Jones meets Star Wars. The most recent game, appearing on the Wii, is really the gem of the collection. It combines stunning graphics with revolutionary controls to really put you into the action. Using the Wii motion sensors, you can use your controllers to aim your arm mounted energy cannon, or interact with the environment through hand gestures.

The Metroid series centers around Samus Aran, a futuristic intergalactic bounty hunter. She was orphaned as a child and adopted by an ancient and powerful race of aliens. She wields their most prized possession: a high tech battle suit with amazing power. Their ruins scattered throughout the universe hold upgrades and weapons that will increase your abilities and build up your arsenal. Aside from unleashing powerful blasts of lasers and missiles from your arm cannon, you can use a laser grappling hook, roll into a tiny ball, drop bombs, and a wide array of other abilities.

The game plays much like the Zelda series as you search through alien worlds and solve puzzles to unlock new powers. It is the third game in the Metroid Prime trilogy. As you play through the game, you become infected with a substance that integrates with your armor, enhancing and corrupting it at the same time. As you search out the head of an alien race trying to take over the universe, you must struggle to keep control of the darkness invading your system.

If you're into a lot of action with a great deal of puzzles and exploration, you will probably enjoy this game. If you get frustrated easily or want just nonstop action, you may want to go for a more simple shooter. I recommend packing a player's guide along if you don't want to have to figure it all out for yourself.

Every man dies, but few truly live. Live your life to its fullest, every day as if it were your last.

I've never really played any of the Metroid games, but what I've seen of the Metroid Prime series has blown me away. The artwork and graphics are absolutely stunning, the levels are beautiful, the creatures and bosses are cool and imaginative, and the level of detail--especially the vast quantity of objects that Samus can scan--is overwhelming. These games are worth renting, even if you just plan on admiring their aesthetics.

I LOVE the Metroid series. They really have it all. They even have an element of mystery as you explore extinct alien planets and learn through hidden texts and logs what actually happened to wipe out these great civilizations. I'm a treasure hunter at heart and I love exploring throughout ancient catechombs in search of powerful treasures.
