Spore is one of the biggest new games coming out for PC later this year. This staggeringly complex game lets you create a single celled organism and gradually evolve it into a massive civilization of intelligent beings. You will be able to hunt down other organisms, collecting food to allow you to grow to maturity. At the end of each life cycle, you can add mutations to your creature and evolve it into a better animal. Once your beings reach certain levels of complexity and intelligence, you can create entire civilizations and populate the whole planet. As if that wasn't enough, you can explore the reaches of space and visit planets populated by creatures made by other people across the world.
To whet our appetite, Spore creators have put together a free demo version of the game available for download. This demo allows you to create a creature from various parts. You can build your animal, give it a custom paint job, then take it for a test drive in the game environment. You can also upgrade to the full version of the demo for $10 to get a much greater number of customizations available. I've really enjoyed just building fun little animals on the free demo.
