I just completed training for my Retriever mining barge. I now have a Retriever for mining and a Brutix for combat in my fleet. Both are excellent ships for these roles. Now I'm trying to figure out where to go from here. Money isn't so much of an issue now and I think I could afford a Battlecruiser in a week or two. So now I'm torn as to what to train for. I want to get Drone skills up so I can defend myself in any ships. I also would love a Covetor mining barge. And of course I want to get a good battleship. I just can't decide which to train for first. Any suggestions?

If we're talking in terms of effectiveness, it would probably be the covetor (mining is your main income, so covetor = more income). Drones would be more important than the BS, since a gallante BS with low drone skills isn't very effective, and drones help almost all the ships you might use.

 
However, were if down to me, I'd say train whichever you will enjoy using the most.
 

All very good points. I think I may hold off on the Battleships since my Brutix is already killing all the enemies I find in any missions available to me about as fast as I can lock onto them. I think I'll hit up Drones first since they will make all my ships far more powerful and because they're the only thing that comes between me and blowing up while I'm mining AFK. I also love that I don't have to refit my ship to switch in mining drones instead of combat ones when I have someone else around to help defend us. After that I think I'll break down and start my months of training for the Covetor mining barge. It will greatly increase my mining speed anyway, so it should be worth the trouble.
