    Jetcan Mining Operations

Artisan, Nytebane, and I have been developing an extremely efficient and effective mining technique that has been making us over a million isk per hour. This works far better in a group but it can be done solo. What you need is just a mining ship, and an industrial hauler.

We all group up and set up drones to guard us from pirates. Then we set up next to a clump of good asteroids and start mining. One of us jettisons the first load of rocks into space. This goes into an unsecure cargo container which will float in place next to us. Bear in mind, these containers will only last about an hour so don't leave them alone too long. They can also be looted by anyone who happens to pass by, but most people won't boldly steal from someone standing next to them. Especially a group of ships. We've never had our loot grabbed when we're mining in a group. A couple of us have lost a few thousand M3 of good rocks while we were mining alone. The good thing about this unsecure container is that it holds 27,000M3 of ore.

I usually like to set a name to the container with a stern warning against stealing it. We all park our ships within 1,500 m of the canister and open it on one side of the screen. We open our cargo in the other side. As soon as our miners put the ore into our cargo, we move it into the container and keep mining. This way there is no interruption, we just keep mining nonstop. When a rock runs out, we just move to the next until we have all the good rocks. When the can has about as much as 2 or 3 hauler loads, we send one of our members who has a hauler back to base.

The hauler switches ships, picks up all the cargo, and puts it all back into their cargo hold. The rest of us keep mining and after the hauling is done, the hauler goes back to mining too. When we're all done mining for the day, the hauler refines the ore and carries it around to the best prices he can find to sell it. He then splits the profits between us all evenly and sends us each our cut.

This system works extremely well for us and allows us to mine in just about any location. It works best in a group. When mining solo it's usually best to mine into secure canisters.
