My dad used to have a pet Scarlet King Snake. These snakes are very striking in appearance. They are covered in red, black, and yellow stripes. They look just like Coral Snakes, only with a different color pattern. The harmless Scarlet King Snakes attempt to look like the deadly Coral Snakes to ward off predators. They actually have a saying to tell if the snake you find will make a nice pet or kill you quickly: Red touches yellow, kill a fellow. Red touches black, friend for Jack. See if you can tell the difference.

Naturally when my dad found one basking on the side of the road, he grabbed it and saved its life. It actually made a really good pet. It was very gentle and best of all it ate other snakes. If you found a small snake around its size, it would wrap around it and strangle it, then swallow it whole. It could actually eat something bigger than its own head.
