    Freshwater Aquarium Fish: Blue Tetras

When I picked up my gold tetras, I also noticed some huge tetras in another tank. What initially struck me, aside from their abnormally large size for tetras was their bluish purple stripe on the base of their tails. In dull or washed out light, they appear mostly pale, but under a bluer spectrum like my actinic light fixture, they shine back with a beautiful purple streak that fades into blue.

My tank is full of color, but it's somewhat lacking in the blue/purple spectrum. These colors are extremely rare in nature, and especially in fish, so I have to really search to find them. I was really glad to find another fish that would add a splash of these colors, if only a light splash.
