How much sleep do you get?

My sleep pattern varies dramatically in a given week depending on school, social events, church, and even things that are going on at home. When I have the chance to sleep in I have a hard time because I'm so used to getting up at around 7am. When I wake up it's very hard to go back to sleep. If I actually get on a normal schedule, I usually get around 7-7:30 hours of sleep. I'm always asking myself..

How much sleep should I get?
Is it alright to go a few nights with only a few hours of sleep?

So, how much sleep do YOU get?

The nice thing about standards is that there are so many of them to choose from.

I usually get between 6 and 7 hours of sleep. I think 6 hours of sleep would be a minimum, 7 hours is a good amount, and 8 is really good. Our dogs usually get us up by 6:30 AM every day. Once in a great while they will let us sleep in until 7:00 AM. If the dogs sense you are await before 6:30 AM, they will start jumping around on the bed and it will force you to get up. You can't pretend to be sleep because somehow they know.

Computers are like dogs. They can sense fear. You must BELIEVE that they will work.

I never seem to find time to squeeze enough sleep into my schedule. I get up around 7 30 am for work each day, but I get to bed anywhere from 11 PM to 2 am. It's hard to get to sleep on time when I get home from tutoring at 11 PM. I probably get around 7 hours on average, but often it gets down to 5 or 6. Then I'll hit the weekend and collapse for a good 10-12 hours. Back in college I sometimes would stay up for 48 hours straight, then sleep 20 hours straight. This sleep pattern is very unhealthy and I'm trying hard to adjust to a steady diet of sleep.

It's soooo difficult to get into a healthy sleep pattern. I've been sleep deprived for a few weeks now and I can see myself slowly going crazy. Maybe crazy is a little dramatic, but definitely not in the right frame of mind. I find my self laughing at really not funny things and saying things that are extremely off topic. I'm starting to wonder if this is all caused by not sleeping as much as I should. I thought I would just be tired, but are there other problems that come from not sleeping? Maybe I've always been like this and I just didn't realize it... :P

What are problems that you've seen from not getting the right amount of sleep every night?
