    Puppy-Go-Round

My brother was once sitting in a swivel chair eating something. Our huge dog kept begging for it. He put his feet on the dog's back and held the food out to the side. The dog lunged for the food, spinning my brother around and pushing the food out of his reach. He went for it again and had the same result. So he just ran for it full force and ended up spinning my brother in circles for a comically long time. My brother was laughing so hard he was crying and yelled out "He's SO stupid". The dog turned to him and jumped up into his lap and grabbed the food from him. I guess he wasn't QUITE as stupid as we originally thought.

That is absolutely hilarious! I'm definitely trying that out with my dog when I get the chance... she probably won't run though.. just follow the food and look really sad and confused that she cant get to it... I'll probably end up feeling really bad and give it to her anyways. Oh well...

Yeah, it takes an especially thick headed dog to do the puppy-go-round. I can't really imagine any other dog doing that very well. Our dog was big enough and stubborn enough he was used to just muscling his way around to get whatever he wanted. If he tried to fit between the couch and the wall and was a little too big, he would scoot the whole couch over. He did that once with me sitting in it. And when we put the couch across the doorway to keep him from getting past, he took a running leap and jumped clear over it... once again with me sitting in it.

Oh wow! That's a huge jump. My dog is pathetic about that..  We have a sliding glass door that we will leave open while we're around so she can come in and out as she pleases. Well, today she ran out side when I opened the door and then the cat came and sat down, blocking the entrance to the house. When Nutmeg (our dog) tried to come back in, she started whining because patches (the cat) was in the way... she didn't even take up the entire entrance and Nutmeg couldn't get around her.. Patches was definitely having a power trip.. she didn't move a muscle. It was pretty hilarious watching 100 lb Nugmeg try to squeeze her way past the 10 lb cat..

I really wish it was that simple with our dog. He would plow right through you if you stood in his way. He used to actually give me bruises on my legs from ramming them into the doorjam. He was ALWAYS excited. You just couldn't keep him calm if a door opened, or someone came in the room, or anyone uttered the word walk (and later if you even spelled W A L K).
