    The Naruto Crowd

It's really surprising what kind of a crowd Naruto attracts here in America. I spend a lot of time between classes on the computers at my university's library, and I can't tell you how many times I've seen people watching Naruto on computers next to me. A couple days ago, I sat down next to this gangsta-lookin' guy. He was looking through his Facebook pictures, and he was surrounded by lots of girls in all of them, except for the shots in which he posed with his shirt pulled up to show off his six-pack. A couple girls came by and hugged him as I sat there; he talked to them like a gangsta. Then, he started looking through a site of online videos. I would've bet good money that he was looking for some hip-hop music video. But to my surprise, he started up a string of Naruto episodes. I guess you can't judge a book by its cover, and I guess you also can't underestimate the scope of Naruto's appeal.

So... Have you met any Naruto fans that you would've never suspected to be Naruto fans?

There are all kinds of people who watch naruto for hardcore anime fans like me to gangstas like the dude you saw at school.  Its good and bad, people get more exposure to anime but it also cheapens anime for major fans. I do like naruto, its not my fav. but I watch it when the new eps. are out.  But on the upside it allows for people to get into anime.

I know what you mean. I never thought I would get into any form of Anime myself and was just wierded out by any of the stuff my friends watched. Who would have known I would get so well immersed in this show. The thing I found really interesting is that when my girlfriend called up her mom the other day to see how she was doing, she said she was watching Naruto with her brothers and really enjoying it. She is a really cool mom, but still, she's a mom.
