    More About All Star Mode

I finally unlocked my last character and got to play this mode. It's actually a lot easier than in Melee in many ways. This is probably to make up for how many new characters you have to fight in this mode. In the last game you had to fight random enemies in groups of one, two, then three. It was all just luck of the draw which enemies were put at the end in groups of three. You might get 3 pushovers, which makes it quite doable, or you might get 3 of the hardest characters making it nearly impossible. Now, it's all set for you. You battle through levels with a given theme and get to fight in random orders. For example towards the beginning I had to fight Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Bowser in the Mario level. It seems you only have to fight up to two at a time. It may be that a third one will jump in with you if you're too slow. I did it on easy so I didn't give them much time to find out. If you look in the background before entering a battle, you can see the pictures of the characters you are about to fight. Use this to gauge if you will need to use one of your three precious heart containers on the platforms to the right. These are your lifelines to recover all your damage. You can only do this three times so use them sparingly. Don't be too sparing or you will have to use a continue and some of your hard earned coins. I used my hearts before battles that had multiple enemies ganged up against me, and only when I had around 100+ damage. It was pretty easy on easy mode, but I can tell that hard and beyond will be a serious challenge.

Re: More About All Star Mode

All Star Mode is very fun in this game.  The characters from the same game series are grouped together, and you fight them on one of their stages.  For example, I fought Mario, Peach, Luigi, and Bowser on the Mushroomy Kingdom stage the first time I played All Star Mode, and I fought them again on the Luigi's Mansion stage the second time I played.  Characters like Yoshi and Wario are in Mario games but still have their own series are fought separately.

This mode can be very tricky, even on easy mode.  The use of items in the game can be very helpful, but they can also be a major setback.  When I played All Star Mode for the first time, I played on easy mode.  I was hoping to beat this mode with no continues so I could clear a challenge.  I was doing very well the entire game.  When I got to the last character, a bomb appeared and fell on me, sending me flying.  So much for beating All Star Mode with no continues!

Two player All Star Mode should be an exciting way to play the game.  I have not gotten a chance to do two player All Star Mode, but it looks very fun.

I can't wait to play some co-op All Star mode. It was nearly impossible to beat solo but I bet as a team we can outsmart the computers. On top of that, with two people I would think you could still win as long as your partner is alive, so you basically get an extra life. And yes I feel your pain on that bomb dropping on you. Sometimes I think it can't possibly be coincidence. I'm constantly having explosives land on me, or breaking a barrel only to have it blow up in my face. All Star Mode is especially frustrating when bad luck hits.
