Getting Used to the New Controls

Oh THANK GOD we can use the old Gamecube controls. I haven't gotten a chance to pick up a Gamecube controller yet so I'm using the Wii remote/nunchuk combo. I used to use the X/Y buttons on the cube controller to do all my jumping. I'm having the hardest time getting used to my jump button on the other side. If I can just reprogram my brain from years of doing things the other way, I might just be able to get the hang of this. What control methods are you all using?

Man, I had to get out my old Gamecube controllers. I'm so used to them that I can't even play with those Wiimotes. The controls are just like the gamecube game when you use one of those controllers, but Wiimotes totally throw me off.

I am so used to using the gamecube control scheme, that I don't know if I can switch.  My gamecube controllers are in bad shape, though, so my rother and I are trying to switch to the wiimote & nunchuck controls.  He is tap jumping with the control stick instead of using C. I am going to customize the controls.  I think that I will use A for normal attacks, B for special attacks, and the D-pad for jumping.  On the nunchuck, I will use Z for shield and C for grab.  I haven't practiced much with this control scheme but I think that it might work if I can get used to it.  I am worried about using C for grab, though.  I might customize the D-pad so that down is jump and the side buttons are grab (if it is easier.)  I  hope that I can get used to new controls.

Wow, that's quite brilliant. I didn't even think to reprogram the controllers to be like the Gamecube ones. If I had a jump key on the Wii Remote side and grab on the left, I think I could do a lot better. I just wish Gamecube controllers lasted longer. Mine are in rough shape too.

I actually adjusted really quickly to the Wiimote / nunchuck style, and now, I think I like it better than the old GameCube controls. I feel like I can relax better when I'm using the Wiimote because it's wireless and because it lets me spread my hands apart when I'm reclining. The Wiimote / nunchuck combo is also cool because if you want a real challenge, you can play with Wiimote in your left hand and the nunchuck in your right. I'm probably the only person in the world who would want to try using a joystick with my right hand, though.

Still, I'm having a lot of trouble grabbing opponents with the new controls, and I can't hit the B button as fast as I could with a GameCube controller. But these problems shouldn't be too hard to get around.

I'm still torn between the control styles. The Game cube ones are always good cuz theyre easy to use and im still familiar with them. The Wiimote ones are a lot easier to use cuz they have no wires, and theyre really comfortable. Theyre really ergonomically designed so they feel much better in your hands after hours of playing. I think ill adjust to the wiimotes. Its funny how no one so far uses the wiimote sideways or the classic controller.

Wow I totally forgot to even try the Wii Remote sideways controls. I'm sure I won't like them enough to actually use them, but it's worth learning just so I won't get cremed if I ever go to a friend's house and get stuck with just a Wii remote. I hope they adopt this feature and make more games able to work with such diverse control styles.
