    The Beauty of Smash

One thing that will immediately strike you about this game is its beauty. Each character is intricately rendered with even the most minute details. Every character has been created as "true to life" as possible, right down to the buckles on their boots and triggers on their guns. I used to love just pausing the Gamecube version and looking at the unhappy expressions of the characters taking blows, rays of light escaping a laser, hazy auras surrounding a lightning fast move, and the intricate details in the background. My brother and I noticed they made everything right down to a hole for the toilet in an outhouse in the jungle. This was back on Gamecube. I can't imagine how this game will look on the Wii. I can't wait to use the new screenshots feature to capture the amazing beauty in this game. This isn't just a video game. It's a living, moving work of art.

One thing that I am really excited about is the screenshot feature because you can save the screenshots on the SD memory card.  Programs are being made to allow you to load the screenshots onto your computer, which I think will be very fun because I will be able to post my pictures here!

Another thing I love about Brawl is the detail in the Green Hill Zone stage.  While playing, you will see some characters in the background, like Tails and Knuckles.  You will see the characters from far away, and they will look like this:

But, if you zoom in, you can see the amazing details that were put on these background characters.  They really look like this up close:

Even the tiny characters in the background are detailed!

This is one of those times when the line between Obsessive and Brilliant is a very fine one. These characters that appear as mere specks in the background are more detailed than many games ever make their few main characters. Look at the Trophies. Each one is a beautiful and detailed masterpiece, but most people won't even work hard enough to earn most of them. It's just an added bonus because they're that good.

    Smash Trophy

They were impressive enough on the Gamecube, but I can't imagine how they will look on the Wii.

Yes, I have to hand it to them, this game really is a work of art. At first glance, it has that cartoonish look of many video games, but the designers didn't just leave it there. I've been surprised by the detail they've added to just about everything, including the music. Orchastration of music during a game isn't usually the first thing that comes to a person's mind, but it's what adds that extra intensity to your feelings while fighting that last huge "bad guy". The ability to take snapshots while playing and investigate further the finer details allows you to truly understand the artists' visions on a whole new way of viewing video games. Mario, we're not your basic Nintendo anymore.

After finally playing Smash Brothers Brawl, I am even more blown away by the artwork in this game. Screenshots just don't do it justice. The music is incredible too. They brought in a team of hundreds of musicians and composers to capture some of the best music from any of the Nintendo Games. Nintendo music is good enough as it is, but when you put some of the best minds together and give them an orchestra to work with, you get something completely unprecedented in the history of video gaming.

I'm especially glad they redid some of the old Donkey Kong music. The original 3 Donkey Kong games had some of the best video game music ever--especially Donkey Kong Country 2. I really enjoy hearing those old Donkey Kong songs reinvented as I play Brawl.

I couldn't agree more. I still love listening to the old Donkey Kong music. I just wish they put in more Donkey Kong Country 2 music. That was by far my favorite in the series. I also wish they could have done some Final Fantasy music, but Squaresoft left Nintendo too long ago.
