Everyone uses twitter differently so it make sense that people select different twitter clients. Sometimes minimalism is the key to enjoying Twitter and other times its nice to see everything spread out into columns that makes it look like some kind of Twitter command center. I have used both and keep going back to small minimalist twitter clients.

Itsy is a tiny little twitter client that has the same basic functionality of must twitter clients without taking up much space. You can send tweets, reply to tweets, send direct messages, view the timeline, view your mentions, and direct messages. It displays picture from twitpic and yfrog inline which is a nice feature. Itsy also features Growl notifications and a Twitter search. They have integrated several keyboard shortcuts, which I am always a fan of, that help you navigate and send tweets within the application without clicking anything.

Try it out it's Free

Itsy Twitter Client

Keeping up with your friends tweets isn't that hard to do. Twitter will send tweets to your phone via SMS if you want so could it really get any easier? I have a Twitter client on my computer that runs all the time that keeps me updated on tweets of people who don't have the privilege of getting sent to my phone.

I downloaded Scalare which is a simple twitter client that will simply let you update twitter and get growl notifications of your friends tweets. If you have an iPhone and prowl you can even get those notifications on your phone without the SMS charges.

Scalare is simple application that only lets you update and see your friends tweets using growls notifications. When you get a notification of a tweet and you click on it Scalare will automatically open a message window reply to them. One down side to the application is that you can't see their tweets in a list because the tweets are only displayed in the notifications. You also can't use more than one Twitter account in Scalare which is a bummer if you have more than one account. The application on the up side uses very little memory which is perfect if you have a lot of applications running on your computer.

Scalare – Mac Twitter Client
