Could an iPad really replace a Laptop? Should you buy a Macbook or an iPad?

The big question you have to ask yourself before buying a iPad is will it do everything I need it to do or should I just buy a Macbook. For a couple more hundred you can buy a macbook, so why by an iPad for $700 when you can by macbook for $999? Could an iPad really replace a laptop? There an app for the iPhone, iPod, iPad that allows you to sync your device via Wi-Fi. Well according to Appadvice there will be a Netflix and an ABC app that will allow you to watch instant watch movies and ABC shows right on your iPad. I have to say that I am most excited about the Netflix app since I am a huge fan of them.
