Apple's Response to Google TV – The New Apple TV Rumors
A lot of people have been wondering what the new Apple TV will be like after seeing Google unveil their new Google TV product. According to Engadget Apple has been working on the new Apple TV long before the unveiling of Google TV. The new Apple TV is going in a new direction and has some surprises under it's black turtle neck.
According to sources the new Apple TV will sport some of the same hardware as the iPhone and run an iPhone like OS. The Apple TV will be getting away from local storage, only having a 16GB Flash drive, and will focus mainly on cloud based streaming. There has been a lot of talk of a cloud based iTunes and this is cohesive with that news and perhaps where Apple TV is headed. The new Apple TV is rumored to support 1080P HD video and will be much smaller device than it is now.
There is talk of allowing you to use your time capsule as additional storage, but there is no information on whether or not other hard drives will be supported. There is no news on whether or not the App Store will find it's way to the Apple TV but it would not surprise me considering the Apple TV will be running on a similar platform. Developers have already adapted their apps to the higher quality iPad, so why not for the Apple TV?
How cool would it be to have all your iPhone apps on your TV? Maybe they could even develop a controller or allow the use of other controllers, like your Xbox controller for example, to play your games right on your TV.
The best thing about this new concept for the Apple TV is that it's price is rumored to be $99. A price like that will sell like hotcakes and is probably going to be cheaper or the same price as the Google TV product.
