Make your Own Ceramic Smoker on the Cheap like 50 Bucks Cheap

My family has been a fan of Ceramic smoking for a long time. The great thing about cooking with ceramic is that is absorbs heat and will cook your food evenly without the need to super direct heat. It also allows you to cook items at extremely low temperatures without burning one side. This is why on most grills you have to turn items because the bottom is getting more heat than the top. Ceramic will cook the top and sides at the same time because they are giving off just as much heat.

My family has been cooking on a ceramic grilling system called the Big Green Egg for some time now and there is nothing better. The only problem with the Big Green Egg is that a large one which has a 18” diameter cooking surface is about $750. So how do you get into Ceramic Smoking without spending $750 on the Grill? You make on with an awesome instructable by user psikot1. Now he got his idea from Alton Brown the host of the show “Good Eats” on the Food Network. I saw the episode last night actually and thought it was brilliant.

Anyways I think if I tried this method I would try and make it a little bit more like the big green egg. Perhaps I would add a handle and hinge to make opening and closing easier.

So checkout out the Instructable and the Alton Browns website on the food Network. The link below is to his recipe he used to prepare the meat and there is a video link on the page that will show you what his version of the cooker looks like.
