Record Time-lapse Movies Using your Webcam with Mac App Gawker

With an application called Gawker you can record time-lapse movies using your isight camera or any other webcam on the internet or one connected to your computer. You can also share your webcam with other people as well as combine up to 4 streams into one video.

This might seem kind of useless to some but very useful to other. Some applications of this program would be to make a time-lapse video of something you are creating like a painting or something you're building. You can even capture your desktop so you could make a time-lapse movie of you creating something in Photoshop or illustrator.

One of the drawbacks is that you would have to have a webcam connected to your computer for this to work. You can record internet webcams but they aren't going to always be pointed at something you want to record. So you have to get the webcam pointed at what you want to record which is difficult because they don't come with long cords. This is where a Bluetooth webcam would come in handy. I wrote a post about it on my Geek Blog and this would be a great application of it.

I don’t think I would want people to be able to access my camera stream but this seems like a pretty awesome way to make a time-lapse movie right on your computer.
