How to Make Your Own iPhone Ringtone for Free

It was exciting when Apple allowed you to download new ringtones from the iTunes store. The only problem was that you had to buy the song and then buy it again to make it a ringtone. This I think is ridiculous so I found a solution.

I have found applications in the past that would create ringtones for the iphone but they didn’t really work. You could make the ringtone and it would be placed in your ringtone playlist but when it came time to upload to your phone it didn’t work.

Well I finally found an application that actually works. All you have to do is drag and drop a 30 or less audio clip in the application and it saves it as a ringtone version of it. Add it to iTunes and sync your phone and you’re good to go.

The application is rightfully called Makeiphoneringtone and can be found as a free download here. http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25788/makeiphoneringtone

If you don’t have an application that can trim audio you can use quicktime if you have the pro version. If not you can use a program called “Audacity”, which can be found here. http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

There you go and enjoy your new ringtones.
