How to get the Most out of Craigslist

Craigslist is a great place to find items for sale or to find a Job or post a resume. You can post lost connections with people in hopes of finder that person you should have gone and talked to at the bar. There are many reasons to use Craigslist. One of disadvantages of Craigslist is that you have to visit the site to know what has been added.

Craigslist now has RSS feeds so one way you can stay in tune with what is being added it to subscribe to category of interest and keep your eye on the Feed. This requires that you have some kind of RSS reader, which aren’t hard to come by but still requires you to check the feed.

A trick I learned was to use a website called alerts.com. With alerts.com you can setup email, SMS, or calls to notify you of changes to craigslist’s listings. Being the first one reply to a listing has its advantages. When it comes to getting the best deals you have to stay on top of what is being posted. The easiest way to do this is to use the SMS alerts on alerts.com. You can setup the alerts to come to you instantly, daily, weekly, monthly whatever you want.

If you have an iPhone there is a craigslist app that will allow you to search and browse craigslist listings. This is a great asset for the on the go lifestyle. If you don’t want to get alerts you can do a manual search right from your phone.
