How to Create an Awesome Windows Boot Disk to Repair your Computer
Okay so lets say that something happened to your computer and now you can’t boot your windows systems. This would leave all your files in limbo. What if you can’t get windows reloaded without erasing everything. One of the things that I’ve learned is that you can use a boot disk to run utilities on a system with the use of the hard drive or OS. You can task such as copying your hard drive or removing viruses.
Having a disk that can run these utilities without your OS is crucial to saving your important data. There are two kinds of boot disks that you can use. Some boot disks are strictly text based, others are PE environments AKA Pre-installed environment that will have a GUI much like windows.
I found a PE environment called Bart PE that uses your windows install files to make a PE CD for your computer.
Here’s what you do.
First you need to download UBCD4Win at (http://www.ubcd4win.com/downloads.htm)
This site will give you the files needed to install the program that will build the PE environment.
After you download the files install them. Ounce installed the program will require you to locate the windows install files. The program will ask you to locate them just select no in the dialog box. The Path of the source is easiest if directed to the windows CD in the optical drive, so select the drive and it will save you time.
After that the rest of the settings are pretty much set for you. All you have to do now is click build. Once it’s done doing it’s thing all you have to do is go find the ISO that you just make the default location is UBCD4win folder in the root directory. If you have any questions about how to guild the disk go here link(http://www.ubcd4win.com/howto.htm)

Once you have found the ISO file all that’s left to do is burn on to a CD. For that you need a burning program that will burn a disk from an ISO, not just burn the ISO onto a disk. If you have a program like Nero or something comparable this will work for you. If not you can use the program ISO Burner by Active. A very simple ISO burning program that is free. After the disk is burnt all that is left to do is pop it into the drive of a problem stricken computer and get going with the repair.
To get your computer to boot from the CD you can either make the changes in the system bios or use f12 to access the one time boot menu that most computer have. This will allow you to select CD to boot from.
