TinkerTool for Mac OSX

TinkerTool is a cool little program that allows you to activate options that are not currently available to you on your Mac. These setting or options are all built in they are just hidden from the common user.

One of the things that really bugged me for a while was why you can't turn on hidden files. Nowhere in the Mac OS can you turn on hidden files. With Tinker Tool you can choose to turn them on and relaunch the finder. Presto chango you can see the hidden files. Isn't that great!

TinkerTool allows you to

  • Show hidden and systems files
  • Disable sound effects
  • Disable desktop features
  • Add "quit" item to finder menu
  • Disable animation effects when opening files
  • Disable animation when opening info panels and desktop icons
  • Disable selection info panel categories.
  • Allows you to prevent the OS from creating .ds_store files on network connections. Which I also love.
  • Allows you to change the max number of label lines in icon view.
  • And these are just the options for the finder.
