I'm not sure how good he'll be as president,

but I'm very wary and skeptical about all the reports about him taxing Americans out of existence and "redistributing wealth" .

And are the republican economic policies any better ? I think not. They talk about the need to reduces taxes, as if this alone will increase general prosperity. But it won't.

This is just a cynical ploy republican politicians use to frighten citizens about"socialism" and get their votes.

But since when is wanting the government to help the poor out of their plight and those who are out of work and can't find a job socialism ? What's the government supposed to do, sit their on its collective posterior and ignore people in need ? Is this good for America ? Just reducing taxes for the rich won't improve the economy.

I'n no socialist, Marxist or communist; in fact I deplore these economic and political ideas.

But the republican economic policies are just plain lousy.

My boss forced me to switch to a Mac recently since he feels it is a superior machine. Luckily he still lets me run Windows on the Mac. It has been an adjustment and a few tiny things still bother me, but overall it wasn't as hard to adjust as I thought it would be. Now I can enjoy the best of both worlds. One thing I really like is how aware the Mac is about what I've installed in the Windows area. If an email comes in with an attachment that can only be opened with a Windows program, the Mac will go ahead and open Windows and then open the attachment. I can also edit the files I have in my Windows area without opening up Windows. If I want to open a file, Mac gives me the choice of opening it with a Windows application or a Mac application. The only things that trips me up regularly now are the Cut, Copy, and Paste commands and remembering am I in Windows and should use the Control key or am I in the Mac and need to use the Apple key.

Just about all the arguments to support any candidate this election have been something against their opponent. People like me who want to find out what the candidates are actually made of have a hard time wading through the mud slinging to get to the issues that matter to the future of our country.

I think that the media tries to portray him as a senile fool. All I have to say is that John McCain is pro small business and for less government and more personal responsibility Last time I checked the right to free health care wasn't in the bill of rights or in the constitution.

Their sushi is really good. There is not as much of a presentation as far as making shapes or decorating them with umbrellas but they are pretty reasonably priced.

If everyone were consuming at the same rate I am, 4.5 earths would be required to sustain us.

And I think my consumption level is below the American average.

It is a frightening time for Americans, and like you, Kurt, I worry about what our generation will leave for our children.

We as Americans have no idea how privileged we are, and most of us have no clue what it's like to wonder where your next meal is, or to go hungry for more than a day. Most of us are more concerned with getting the next big car, or remodeling our houses, or finding the perfect outfit that will make us popular.

Many in this world struggle to survive and are desperate for a piece of our prosperity. Thankfully, our wealth and power has generally kept us in relative safety for a very long time. But this can only last as long as our enemies lack the power to snatch it from us. I can't see this peace lasting more than a couple decades before someone rises up to challenge our very way of life.

My economics teacher made a very good point which actually is why our world is in such a predicament. The growth of our resources is linear, but the growth of our people is exponential. This means that while humans are reproducing at an always increasing rate, our resources are only being depleted more and more. Inevitably, we will run out of food in this world.

Unless we make some great strides to increase our resources, we are inevitably doomed to not be able to support everyone. The eventual outcome is global warfare scrapping for what little we have left.
