Here's a reminder to those who may be new to classical music or haven't gotten interested in it yet : an exciting and incredibly diverse new season is about to begin in America, Europe and elsewhere.
Musicians, singers and conductors are winding up their vacations and getting ready for the concert and operatic season. There will be enormous variety : old music, new music, familiar works and unfamilar ones of every imaginable kind. If you live in or near any reasonably large city, you should investigate the offerings at your local symphony orchestra and opera company etc. Just put the name of any orchestra or opera company on your search engine, and you can see the website, with all the information you could ever need or want about these performing organizations. Season schedules, repertoire, tickets, subscriptions etc.
Look up virtually any famous classical musician to find his or her website.
The Metropolitan opera will be offering High Definition broadcasts to movie theaters all over the USA. For information, see metopera.org. The New York Times will have a preview of the upcoming classical season in New York and elsewhere in the Arts and Leisure section of the Sunday Times shortly. Check out the Times website if you don't get this paper.
If you are planning to visit any of the major US cities, or European ones, you can easily find information on getting tickets on the internet for classical performances there. There is a website called feastofmusic.com. This is no exaggeration.
