Hurricane Preparation Hints
Friday, August 26, 2011 1:46 PM
My apologies to those now evacuating and those who are bearing down for the arrival of Hurricane Irene in their city. Living in Florida, I know that it is extremely important to have some sort of disaster kit handy when preparing for the worst. For those who do not reside in Hurricane Irene's path, it is best to have these items purchased and prepared in... Read More...

Would You Accidentally Run Over Your Own Family?
Friday, July 10, 2009 9:59 AM
When I saw the headline for this story, it immediately caught my attention. Before looking into the entire story, I had to wonder - Who could run over their family? Was it intentional? What were the circumstances? Would you accidentally run over your own family? Well, the details were much different than I had expected. This is the story of a young family in... Read More...

Jon & Kate Plus 8
Tuesday, May 26, 2009 2:17 PM
We started enjoying watching this family not long ago because we thought they were, well, fun to watch. Being a parent of two and watching parents of 8 and their struggles (lack of sleep; dealing with constant noise & crying, etc) helps to make things a little bit easier to handle. Just knowing that someone out there has 8 young children to raise shows you... Read More...

Panacea Blue Crab Festival
Thursday, May 14, 2009 2:47 PM
Our family and some friends went to the Blue Crab Festival in Panacea this year to enjoy some fun in the sun and some great seafood. Although I am very sensitive to being in the sun too long, this was well worth it! The Blue Crab Festival offers all sorts of fun outdoor activities, along with great seafood (and other foods for those who don’t care for it). I... Read More...

I normally don’t watch the Extreme Home Makeover show, however, friends and family contacted us last night to watch this special Tallahassee, FL episode of a large family who desperately needed a new home. I regret that I missed the beginning of the show and the introduction of both parents and their large family of 1 biological son along with about 6 adopted... Read More...
Language Concepts: Kansas and Arkansas

My husband is so happy this time of year because it is football season and there is plenty to go around. College and Pro football games. Unfortunately, even though I have "partially" watched these games with him for years, I still don't know one team from another or who plays for what team. Once I do finally figure out what player goes with what... Read More...

Storm Disasters
Thursday, June 26, 2008 10:59 AM
Our area had severe thunderstorms last night. Frequent lightning flashes and scary crackling thunder made us grateful to be indoors and safe, hoping as many as possible were indoors too. Today, I heard a commercial on the radio about hurricane preparedness (or lack thereof). A family who had gone almost 24 hours with two small hungry children--no food, no drinking... Read More...
The Joy of Moving
Friday, June 20, 2008 1:55 PM
Our family had to move last weekend and it was quite a job. We began packing boxes 2 weeks in advance and still had several items to box on moving day. Anything from dishes in the dishwasher and drain, to knick knacks on the kitchen counters. Finding a place to put everything in our new home was much more fun. Everyone has plenty of room for their things and... Read More...
