The Gym

I have to wonder what gym’s are really for. When you are terribly out of shape and you sign up thinking that you can just get on all of this equipment and start working yourself back into shape and then realize that it will create aches and pains in places you didn’t even know existed, it makes you wonder if it is really worth the hassle. It makes you wonder if you are doing the right thing or if you will always be in such pain. And, believe it or not, more tired than when you started going? I am exhausted!!!

I have only been attending for about three weeks now. I go three times a week and stay for about 45 minutes, which includes cardio and weights. By the time I am done, I feel really good about myself for having gone. But a few days later, I feel like I should not have tried. I just can’t wait until I get to the point where I can work out without feeling it days later. I just wanted something where I could feel more energetic and healthier. I sure hope this turns out to be more fun later.

It also helps having an mp3 player. My husband had been wanting to buy one for me for quite some time, and I always turned him down. Told him I would not have time to listen to it between work and life at home with the kids. It sure is a great thing to have at the gym though. In fact, my cardio workout would be much slower and less effective without it.

Way to go, Parker! The last few years I've tried to go the gym, something gets in the way. I know this is supposed to be a priority for me, but these days there isn't a free minute. To make fitness fit into my schedule, I'd have to cut back on the 6 hours of sleep I get--on a good night--and that's NOT going to happen!

I keep telling myself that life won't always be like this, but for right now, the best I can do is parking further away from the door, and eating less fast food.
