We've Been Traveling - Orlando

So our second (and last) family getaway for a while was to Orlando. Yes, the vacation capital. So much to do and no time to do it. So guess what we did? NOTHING. That’s right, nothing. We got a cool hotel, parked the car and didn’t move until checkout. There was a nice restaurant, swimming pools, Jacuzzi tub, mini golf, playground and more. Another hit with the kids and we didn’t even go to Disney this time. This year, we are all about quick trips to break up the monotony and I must say, it works for me!

That actually sounds like a lot more fun than going to all the theme parks. My family vacations were almost always all about cramming as much fun into as short a time as possible. I always wondered why I came home more tired than when I started.

Now when I get a vacation, I usually prefer to stay home. I live in an apartment complex that's nicer than a lot of resorts anyway, and I always have the pool right there. The best thing about it is just sitting still and resting. It's a novel thing, but it's so important to just rest and relax sometimes. I end up spending an evening or occasionally a whole weekend just resting like that, and I always get up on Monday feeling like I just got back from a great vacation.
