The Kids and the Car

I just got a new car in 2007 and I am loving it. It has all the features that I wanted and it’s great for taking my kids to school. I was hoping that the only "wear and tear" that would ever happen to it would be my children.

Well, the other day, I took a day off work to go out of town. My day started out pretty normal, but when I took my daughter to school, I was backed into by another driver.  I get ready to get out of the car and speak to them and they just left the scene! I was so mad, especially since I was only taking my daughter to school for part of the day, since she didn't want to have an absence on her record (8 years old, going to Orlando and doesn't want to miss school---am I missing something here?).  At least no one was hurt, but this is a parent's nightmare, two kids in the car and completely helpless when it gets hit!

Thankfully, another driver behind me got the plate number so that we could pursue the matter. I have hundreds (maybe even thousands) of dollars of damage to my car and I sure ain’t paying for it! The police are looking for the driver and I sure hope this works out.

Wow, that is awful. I can imagine how frustrating that would be to have a driver run off after hitting you. I'm so glad they at least got the tag of the driver that hit you.

The only "accident" I was ever technically in was when a mom at my brother's school backed into me while I was parked in the kid pick up line. She yelled out the window "I'm late to pick up my kids" and sped off. When I looked at it, she just left a tiny scratch at the bottom of my fender so it wasn't worth pursuing. Still, I can't believe some people.

I also have to congratulate you for having a kid so dedicated to school. Most kids would love any excuse to get out of school.

I hope the police are able to track down the driver. I'm sure the damage to their vehicle will be readily apparent so they won't be able to deny it.
