• Background Notes on Countries of the World

  For several years we have discussed ordering the Background Notes database. I just discovered that we already have access to it. Click on EBSCO Go to the bottom of the list of Databases until you see Military & Government Collection Click on Title List Now Click on the Letter B Scroll down until you start seeing the links to Background Notes. You need to search the entries carefully. The country of 'Hungary' is listed under 'Republic of Hungary'. These are excellent sources for students needing information about specific nations. • Journal of Periodontology

  You may have Dental students asking for help in searching our online version of the Journal of Periodontology. First, go to the LRC webpage: http://www.otc.edu/lr/lrc/index.htm At the bottom of the second column, click on Online Periodicals. Then look for the two links to the Journal. You may use either one to get to the online version. The full text of the articles should be readily available, but if you need a login and password, I will be sending that in an email. I'm not supposed to publish the password in a public forum, but you may give it to individual students. • Human Relations Area Files

  We have a Free Trial of the Human Relations Area Files (HRAF) through May 31. This is a wonderful database for cultural, anthropological and archeological information. For example, Jessica Gerard teaches a Sophomore Seminar on Gender Issues. One topic of research is "Gender Roles and Native American Cultures". HRAF is a great source for this type of information. Please practice searching it, especially using the OEM Codes. • Printing of Power Point Slides

  I have had a few students printing one slide per page powerpoint presentations from the public computers. As far as I can tell with the new viewer I think it will only give the option to print one slide per page instead of 3, 6, or 9 slides per page. • billed books...

  All staff: please remember that when a billed book is returned by a patron, to fill out an Account Status Change form (located in the front of the bottom drawer at Station 1), make a copy, and give one copy to the student to take to the Cashier's office, and one copy to me for our files. Also, when students return items, please ask them to wait while the items are checked in, so if they are billed, we may give them a form. Thanks!
