Doesn't seem like a very smart thing on his part. I have heard more than one story about people find all kinds of weird things in auctioned off storage facilities.

Anyone who did anything with domains and website building about a decade ago most likely dealt with Network Solutions. I know I was a past customer. The only saving grace I can think of is the payment information I used back then is no longer active. Still, what a huge breech.

I think a lot of the ID theft problem is because people don't follow the procedure and don't do what they are told. This allows the id thieves to sneak through the cracks.

I don't think it should be that easy to figure our someone's social security number. I feel they should not allow the public to access certain databases like the death master file. I think someone should access the database for you and find the person you are looking for only if you can prove you have some kind of relationship with the person. I don't know something that would make it harder for people to just browse the information.

Can you imagine having your final payment to the caterer declined bcs someone else spent your money!
