It's a real breakthrough innovation for science as a whole. Science has grown in leaps and bounds because the internet allowed them to share information and ideas all over the world. Now we can share computer processing power between hundreds of thousands of computers, rather than relying on massive supercomputers that are only available to the top scientists. Thanks for telling us about this. It's a great cause and a great use of that latent cpu power that so few of us fully utilize.

I don't think anyone would dream of checking in a battery for someone's hard earned cash. You could even put the battery in an appliance to be sure no one would search for it. Anyone would think to crack a traditional safe but if they don't know where to look, how would anyone find it?

I had a friend growing up who had a huge stuffed gorilla. One of the guys finally turned to it and said, oh I just can't help it, and reached into its mouth... and his hand came out with about 100 dollars in loose bills. I think the battery safe is a much better idea.

It amazes me to think those things really work. I'd say the most clever one I've seen was on Myspace. You get a message from someone asking to add you, and their profile takes you to an exact replica of the sign in page. You assume you have been logged out and enter the account info and password. Before you know it, you're spamming your friends with ads.

I can't wait to hear what you bring to the table. I'd also love to see some of the software and tools you find that are useful for various things.

It seems most people see the term "Hacker" as someone who breaks into government computers and steals everyone's money. It's going to be interesting to learn from someone who hacks to improve the lives of those around you.
