"Grey's Anatomy" will not be renewing the contract of troubled actor Isaiah Washington, ABC News has learned. he move was confirmed by two sources with knowledge of the situation, one of whom said, "It was a difficult year and this should come as no surprise to anyone." Officials at ABC Television Studio, which produces "Grey's Anatomy," declined comment. Even as Washington's star rose with the hit show he starred in, he faced allegations that he used an anti-gay slur to refer to "Grey's" co-star T.R. Knight. He initially denied reports he used the slur, and raised eyebrows with a public statement at the Golden Globe awards. "No, I did not call him a f--t," Washington said in front of reporters. Knight appeared on the "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," saying that he was shocked by Washington's denial. On "Access Hollywood," another "Grey's Anatomy" co-star, Katherine Heigl, said: "He [Washington] just needs to stop talking." Earlier this year, Washington admitted using the slur, apologized and said he planned to meet with gay rights groups. He then said he would check into a treatment center for psychological evaluation. "I have begun counseling," Washington said. "I regard this as a necessary step toward understanding why I did what I did and making sure it never happens again." ===== Good riddance.

Last week Meredith was knocked off the pier by some wounded guy while her slow-eyed child-friend looked on. Of course it begs the question Is She Dead? It wouldn't be Grey's Anatomy without an unbelievable middle-of-the-season story so at least it's Meredith who is in harm's way this time. I can't stand her. To be fair, let's look at the two sides to see if the main character of Grey's Anatomy is now deceased. She's Alive: Well, she IS the main character. Legions of women would probably burn down the station if she died because without her they'd see a lot less McDreamy. She fell into water, not a pit of spikes. They didn't really show how far down the water is from the pier unless you can glean it from how long it took Alex to climb down to Pylon Lady. By the way, Pylon Lady's face totally gave me nightmares. She can probably swim. And if that wounded guy could swim and climb up the same places, odds are in favor of Meredith being able to do the same thing. She's Dead: No one ever dies on the show which makes it a little unbelievable. They should take the Lost writers and put them in charge of an episode. Everyone would be dead except for Baily and Alex and the hospital would be overrun by some sort of smoke. Who can save her? The injured guy who didn't even realize he knocked her over? The mildly retarded girl that keeps following her around? She is too depressed to swim and with someone there to talk her into living she's just going to say, "Screw it" and sit on the bottom until someone pays attention to her. I hope she's dead. Sorry!

I have six days of work left at my job. Because of my immense knowledge of how business interacts with programming I was headhunted away. It's kind of weird going to a new job to work for someone who I've never met. And he has never seen a resume of mine, nor a site I've worked on--let alone built. I am comfortable with XML and Ajax and all that good stuff but what if I was just good talking about it? I guess it would be hard to bluff your way through child node xml parsing without knowing at least a little bit about how to actually do it. God knows I've been on the BUILDING side of XML enough but parsing it in PHP is tricky. Anyway, it'll be nice working at home. Since the people I'll be working with are all strangers I won't likely miss out on any sort of camaraderie that existed in my "old" office. There's a sick part of me that's looking forward to just clocking in and out. I don't have to worry about my actions possibly leading to the financial welfare of my friends. When all my <tags> are sorted I might even take a break to pet the dogs. Awesome.

I can't believe I'm about to defend Condoleezza Rice. I think she's a puppet and not terribly bright. Additionally, until now, I thought Barbara Boxer was great. But then she said this:

Below is a letter I just sent to Yahoo Search Marketing. They are such a scam I can't believe it. I'll be sure to post their reply. This is ridiculous. We are a small company and WE WANT OUR CLICKS TO COUNT. Over half of the traffic coming to our site is from your "preferred partners". Well this is bullshit. 0 of these clicks have converted, which is not surprising considering your partners are worthless. We started this site because looking for a credit card is a terrible experience. Contributing to this negative experience are the sites that you allow to earn our money with these bullshit clicks. These do not help the consumer. They do nothing but allow leeches to earn money off people with a serious need. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give your advertisers the opportunity to either not participate in your "preferred partners" scam websites or as a bare minimum allow us to block certain domains. With only a six-figure budget I'm sure we're not in your top 50 percentile of advertisers but there are a lot of companies in our position. We want you to earn money--the clicks we've received from the Sponsored Listings on the Yahoo Search Results page have been great and we certainly don't mind paying for those. Having "preferred partners" would be fine too if you'd actually take into consideration that most of the people, especially in areas like the financial industry, are complete idiots looking to take advantage of anyone and make $3/click. Please tell us what to do. Your partner sites are a vacuum of money and it is in no way fair that we advertisers have no means to stop them from "promoting" our quality sites on the utter crap with which they fill the internet. Since I have been up well past 2am for who knows how long working on Ph. D applications I have been watching Golden Girls. I am not ashamed to admit it. On a normal night I watch Fraiser, which comes on at midnight and 12:30. I'm usually asleep by the second episode. It comes on Lifetime and that's fine--I don't care that all of the commercials are for tampons and adult diapers; I enjoy the programming nonetheless. Golden Girls is edgy. Sofia says things that would never be allowed on TV now. I'm not going to stay up until 1am every night to watch it once my applications are complete but in the mean time I'll thank them for being a friend.

I know credit cards have nothing to do with Grey's Anatomy, much less this blog but I do believe I have found the single greatest credit card comparison site. I did not receive the natural gifts of my father when it came it financial wisdom so when he told me I should apply for a new card every five years I had no idea what to do. I have really good credit mainly because I never use my single credit card (I've had it since 1997). I did not like how scammy (and spammy) the credit card sites online felt. Until I found Cardtron.
