  • Netflix

Since I've been so busy applying for schools I didn't have a lot of time to go shopping. Good thing no know I know has Netflix.
  • Complaint to YSM

Below is a letter I just sent to Yahoo Search Marketing. They are such a scam I can't believe it. I'll be sure to post their reply. This is ridiculous. We are a small company and WE WANT OUR CLICKS TO COUNT. Over half of the traffic coming to our site is from your "preferred partners". Well this is bullshit. 0 of these clicks have converted, which is not surprising considering your partners are worthless. We started this site because looking for a credit card is a terrible experience. Contributing to this negative experience are the sites that you allow to earn our money with these bullshit clicks. These do not help the consumer. They do nothing but allow leeches to earn money off people with a serious need. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give your advertisers the opportunity to either not participate in your "preferred partners" scam websites or as a bare minimum allow us to block certain domains. With only a six-figure budget I'm sure we're not in your top 50 percentile of advertisers but there are a lot of companies in our position. We want you to earn money--the clicks we've received from the Sponsored Listings on the Yahoo Search Results page have been great and we certainly don't mind paying for those. Having "preferred partners" would be fine too if you'd actually take into consideration that most of the people, especially in areas like the financial industry, are complete idiots looking to take advantage of anyone and make $3/click. Please tell us what to do. Your partner sites are a vacuum of money and it is in no way fair that we advertisers have no means to stop them from "promoting" our quality sites on the utter crap with which they fill the internet. If you have any advice I will be happy to listen; I'm actually a very nice person if you call me in person. My Name My Phone Number
  • Golden Girls on Lifetime

Since I have been up well past 2am for who knows how long working on Ph. D applications I have been watching Golden Girls. I am not ashamed to admit it. On a normal night I watch Fraiser, which comes on at midnight and 12:30. I'm usually asleep by the second episode. It comes on Lifetime and that's fine--I don't care that all of the commercials are for tampons and adult diapers; I enjoy the programming nonetheless. Golden Girls is edgy. Sofia says things that would never be allowed on TV now. I'm not going to stay up until 1am every night to watch it once my applications are complete but in the mean time I'll thank them for being a friend.
  • The Power of CardTron

I know credit cards have nothing to do with Grey's Anatomy, much less this blog but I do believe I have found the single greatest credit card comparison site. I did not receive the natural gifts of my father when it came it financial wisdom so when he told me I should apply for a new card every five years I had no idea what to do. I have really good credit mainly because I never use my single credit card (I've had it since 1997). I did not like how scammy (and spammy) the credit card sites online felt. Until I found Cardtron. Once you use it you will understand the power of Cardtron. It is unlike any other credit card site I've ever seen and obviously I would recommend it to anyone. That's all.
  • Stopping Spam on the Back End

If you've ever tried to post a comment through Blogger's software you've probably seen the little box where you have to type some random letters to ensure your post goes through. I've wanted to put that on my new blogs as well as on my sites at work since we get a ton of spam through our forms. To curtail this spam check out this spam blocker. If you're coding the HTML form all you have to do is generate some random character in the server side language of your choice and bam, it creates the image. All you have to do is duplicate whatever you send it in a hidden "check" field. It doesn't simply send back the letters you send it for easy scraping but gives explicit instructions on how you can easily parse out its results. It's awesome.
  • Boo Hoo Hoo - Grey's Anatomy: Season 3

Now that we're about halfway through the third season of Grey's Anatomy I think it's a great time to reflect back on what we've seen so far. All in all, I think it's been a pretty crappy season. Now before all you rabid fans start going for my thoat at least give me a chance to explain myself. The one thing I really hated about Season 1 was that the show was so unbelievable. Few actions had negative effects and for a show that's supposed to be about a hospital it was pretty trite. Think back to the Bomb Episode. Sorry, but Meredith should be dead. In pieces. But oh no, couldn't kill her--couldn't even have that explosion be traumatic enough to impact her prissy little life. Season 2 did a better job of fixing this. Bad things happened to the main characters and it looked as though they were going to give us a good reason to watch. But then Izzy killed Denny (good drama) but she was able to come back? Come on. Season 3 has been almost as bad as Season 1 in terms of Do I Buy It? The most interesting story lines are getting neglected (Alex & MsDreamy for one) so we can see more about George's dad. Who cares! He should have already been dead. And now Burke and Christine are going to get back together? COME ON. For the sake of the show, kill of someone important--and soon.
  • Grey's Anatomy Music : Season 3, Episode 10

Grey's Anatomy Music : Season 3, Episode 10 Man, last night's episode SUCKED. It had everything I can't stand about Grey's Anatomy by the boatload. I'll save that for a separate entry though. Even the music sucked last night. Nonetheless, because not everyone has as refined taste as myself here is the music to Don't Stand So Close To Me. Anya Marina - Sociopath (audio) John Legend - Show Me (audio) Son Volt - World Waits For You (audio) The Police - Don't Stand So Close to Me (audio)
