Online Parental Responsiblity

I was a freshman in high school when Pulp Fiction came out--the year was 1994. All my friends were going to go on Friday night. My parents said no. I didn't go. And was pissed. I watched the movie in college and it wasn't worth the fuss. The point is my parents knew what was going on and had enough sense to keep their impressionable 14 year old away. MySpace.com is in the news again because parents want stricter regulations on the age of people signing up. Well parents--WHERE THE HELL ARE YOU? This is 0% MySpace's responsibility. They ask if you're of age and YOUR KID gets to answer. If he's 12 and checks the box that says "I am over 16" MySpace can't ask him to scan his birth certificate to prove it. The reason MySpace is so popular is because it's easy to use and a 10 year can figure it out. So you retarded parents--FIGURE IT OUT TOO. Watch to see what your little kids are doing. I don't want your hypocritical groups forcing censorship. Take responsibility for your kids. I don't take my pit bull out for walks without a leash. Is she going to attack someone without provocation? Of course not. But I know I'm responsible if she does so I do my best to keep YOUR KIDS safe from petting MY DOG. This is everyone's internet. So parents, take some damn responsibility and be aware of what your damn kids are doing. Just because you have to work 10 hours a day then go to yoga then meet with your financial advisor doesn't mean you can't be responsible for them: YOU HAD THEM. No one forced you at gunpoint to have kids but you did. You gave up your life for theirs so take some goddamn responsibility for them so when they get all messed up (and they will) you stop blaming outside factors like MySpace and blame your own lack of parenting skills.
